A GYMNASTICS club in a Cotswold village will reopen under new owners after its sudden closure.

The North Cotswolds Gymnastics Club will reopen on November 5 in Bourton after being taken over by a neighbouring club.

Carterton Gymnastics Club took ownership of the club in September after being unable to keep up with the influx of gymnasts looking for a new group.

Debra Courtney-Crane, managing director at Carterton Gymnastics Club said: "We are a very successful club and have been the community club of the year, and when we heard that Cotswold Clubhouse (also known as North Cotswolds Gymnastics Club) had closed over seven weeks ago we were inundated with very sad parents and gymnasts with nowhere to train.

"Our ethos is to help people and so we opened more classes and we had a big meeting with all the parents to see how we could help, and now we have taken over the club in Bourton.

"We are a Community Interest Company and so we do not have masses of funds so we are trying to raise as much awareness as possible.

"We will be signing the lease imminently but we've contacted all the councillors and they have all given us their full support."

The former club, which has 250+ users, will be renamed to Bourton Gymnastics Club.

Mrs Courtney-Crane continued: "Community is at the heart of what we do.

"We are fully inclusive and will offer what the community wants.

"So far we have had very very very positive feedback from over 600 people.

"We want Bourton to be a sister club to Carterton.

"I've had nothing but positive feedback, I get more messages each and every day to ask about when we will be opening and all the parents are fully supportive."

Bourton Gymnastics Club will reopen in the same premises in the Bourton industrial estate.
