TWO rugby clubs returned from the festive break for a Cotswold derby with top-of-the-table Stow taking the local honours.
Stow convincingly beat eighth-placed Shipston 36-3 at Oddington Road on Saturday and lead the Regional Two Midlands West table by one point from second-placed Silhillians.
Shipston entertain mid-table rivals Moseley Oak this Saturday while Stow head to lowly Malvern.
On the football scene, Moreton Rangers crashed to an 8-1 beating at Devizes Town in Hellenic League Division One.
The fifth-from-bottom Cotswold side were no match for the play-off chasing hosts who spread the goals throughout the team with six different scorers.
Jack Fountain was on target for Moreton with Logan Anning, Keiron Gleed (2), Luke Hopper, Declan McStravick, Matthew Partridge and Lenny Gale (2) netting for Devizes.
Rangers were due to visit Calne Town in midweek before going to FC Bristol in the league on Saturday (3pm) and then hosting Slimbridge in the Gloucestershire FA Challenge Trophy next Tuesday (7.45pm).
Bourton Rovers' Division Two West home clash with Gloucester City Development due to the pitch conditions at Rissington Road.
The Cotswold side host Cinderford Town Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
Shipston Excelsior are at home to Newent Town Development on Saturday (2pm).
