STOW-on-the-Wold ended their 2022/23 season with a thumping defeat, but it will not dampen down what has been a hugely successful season.
Having been promoted to the Regional 2 Tribute South Central for this season, avoiding coming bottom would usually be the aim but Stow have well exceeded that and desipte their 62-7 defeat to league champions Marlborough on the final day, they ended the campaign in fourth position.
Of their 22 matches, they have won 15 and lost seven, scoring 643 points and conceding 390. 15 of their wins came with bonus-points and three of those defeats brought a losing bonus-point.
So throughout the season, there have only been four games that they have not taken anything from the game, with one of those coming on the final day to a Marlborough side who won all 22 games.
The champions also amassed an incredbible 1004 points throughout the campaign, whilst only shipping 184 points in what has been a remarkable term for them.
So there is little embarassment in losing to them and for Stow, it will be a case of onwards and upwards going into the cup competition next month.
