A HIGH standard competition over 36 holes decided the 2020 Club Champions at Broadway for the Mens’, Ladies’ and Junior categories.
The course was at its challenging best on a sunny day with a keen breeze testing the abilities of the club’s top golfers.
To overcome certain Covid-19 restrictions, the players were supported by a team of volunteers who tended the flags and raked the bunkers all of which helped add to a very professionally run tournament on the day.
The competition amongst the men was very tight with the lead changing hands throughout the day.
Ultimately, it was Keiran Sutton who took the honours with a gross score of 145 over 36 holes (one over par) and two shots ahead of Oliver Coombes in second place.
The lead within the Ladies’ competition also fluctuated during the day with Linda Carruthers crowned the champion with a 36 holes score of 168 and six shots ahead of her nearest rival, Victoria Watkins.
Adam Sutton, the younger brother of Kieran the newly crowned Men's Champion, took the Junior title with an impressive 36 hole score of 157.
Both Adam and Kieran have benefitted from Junior coaching at the club, both progressing through to County level representation.
