REAL Racing duo Wayne Lockey and Mark Sayers secured top eight finishes in the British F2 Sidecar Championship fourth round at Anglesey.
Back to standard engines after racing the Southern 100 on the Isle of Man, they were less than a second off the next four outfits in qualifying ninth in the Wirral 100 Motor Club event.
A sunny first race saw Moreton-in-Marsh’s Lockey and Sayers enjoy a fine start to the 20 laps on the Welsh coastal circuit before they held on to finish a pleasing seventh, just a fraction of a second off sixth position.
However, the conditions changed for the second contest with heavy rain and the Cotswold duo were glad to have changed tyres.
Lockey and Sayers improved from ninth to eighth with poor visibility as the race was ended on the 16th lap following a crash.
The next round is at Lincolnshire’s Cadwell Park on September 5 and 6.
