CHIPPING Norton School’s rugby players capped their season with victory in the Oxfordshire uUnder-18s Cup final.
They beat Abingdon School 17-10 at Henley in the revamped county competition.
After wins over Bartholomew School, D’Overbroeck’s and Henley College, Abingdon proved a more difficult task.
The first-half was even but Abingdon led 7-0 through a converted try. Chipping Norton then hit back in the second period, turning the ball over.
Scrum-half Matt Wheeler wriggled free to score their first try and a rolling maul over 40 metres resulted in the second decisive effort.
Impressive captain Jordan Eriksen helped ensure Chipping Norton won the new trophy.
The boys also made the West Oxfordshire District final, losing 24-19 to Burford School.
