As the road race season nears its end, 28 Bourton Roadrunners took on the Tewkesbury Guy Fawkes five-mile race.

The run was part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race series, as well as Bourton's own competition.

The race was packed, with more than 400 runners participating.

Darren Long was the club's first finisher, completing the race in 31 minutes and 32 seconds.

18-year-old Dougal Hamilton-Smith followed closely behind, winning the overall Junior Man prize with a time of 33 minutes and 21 seconds.

Claire Cox was the first woman from the club to finish, completing the race in 35 minutes and 32 seconds.

Steph Holton and Liz Hulcup also put on a good show, finishing second in their respective categories.

Holton completed the race in 38 minutes and 37 seconds in the FV60 category, while Hulcup finished in 43 minutes and 3 seconds in the FLV70.

The other Bourton finishers were Tim Hemming (34:17), Maxine Emes (36:30), Rebecca Townsend (36:56), Lisa Braid (37:47), Ian Tolfts (37:55), Iain Cox (38:09), Tony Goodwill (40:22), John Harding (41:18), Basia Legierska (42:12), Louise Hamilton-Smith (43:38), Jaq Underwood (43:38), Allie Quinn (45:50 and PB), Gill Carrick (46:41), Louise Townsend (47:24), Gary Holton (49:08), Gillian James (49:27), Janice Townsend (51:36), Lynn Hudson (57:34), Jo Cooper (57:34), Shirley Creed (63:01), Jenny Evanson (63:03), Jeanette Brew (64:30) and Nicky Patterson (64:31).

Elsewhere, Graham Lane also got his bike out for the Devon Standard Distance Duathlon at Roadford Lake.

Lane completed the challenging course, which included a 10 kilometre run, a 46 kilometre cycle race and another five kilometre run, in three hours, 29 minutes and 42 seconds.

Despite finishing second in the MV70 category, Lane said: "I clearly require more speed-work."

The Roadrunners also took part in various parkruns on Saturday morning.

Members had their running shoes on at Chipping Norton School, Evesham, Gloucester City, Newport South Wales and Three Brooks in Bristol.
