Bourton Roadrunners' Steph Hourton broke the women's course record at a challenging off-road event this week.
Four of the club's female athletes took on the Otter Challenge at Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire, which offers various distance options, from five kilometres to an ultra-marathon.
The four women all opted for the ultra-distance, aiming to complete as many 3.3-mile laps of the water park as possible within a six-hour time limit.
Holton completed 36.3 miles within the allotted time, finishing first woman and second competitor overall, breaking the previous women’s course record with 11 laps.
Louise Hamilton-Smith, Claire Carroll, and Allie Quinn ran most of the multi-terrain course together, enjoying the views of the 15 lakes and the accompanying wildfowl.
Despite the weather becoming a bit wet after midday, they completed six laps, giving them 19.8 miles, and still in high spirits.
Hamilton-Smith and Carroll were within a few seconds of each other at the finish, while Quinn was 22 minutes behind, having completed the Great North Run just two days earlier.
Bourton's Graham Lane’s form continues to impress this season, with the 70-year-old showing several younger runners how it’s done in the Angels 10k, at Ashleworth, with a time of 50 minutes and 34 seconds to claim the Gloucestershire AAA County bronze medal in the MV70 category.
Also earning a county medal was Liz Hulcup, who faced strong competition in the LV70 category, earning a County Silver medal for her 57 minutes and 10 seconds.
Tony Goodwill and John Harding also had strong performances over the undulating course, both challenging within the MV65 category.
Goodwill had the edge at the line with a time of 52 minutes and 42 seconds, just eight seconds ahead of Harding.
Clementine Bright was fourth in the Senior Lady category with a time of 54 minutes and 32 seconds.
Other Roadrunners competing were Carroll (57 minutes and 18 seconds), Lee Smith (one hour, one minute and six seconds), and Imogen Cox (one hour, seven minutes and 47 seconds).
Steve and Gilly Howell took on the Worcester Half Marathon, where Gilly claimed first place within the women’s vet-60 category, with a time of one hour, 56 minutes and 14 seconds, finishing with Steve, who recorded the same time.
