Six Bourton Roadrunners competed in the popular Cheltenham Half Marathon over the weekend.

The cohort joined with over 3,000 other runners on Sunday (September 1), who were well supported as they ran around the streets of the spa town.

Alex Pye led the way for Bourton, finishing the course in a stunning time of one hour and 26 minutes.

Darren Long, a veteran member of the racing club, pushed him all the way with a time of one hour, 28 minutes and 26 seconds.

Graham Lane, another seasoned runner, struck gold in the MV70 category, achieving an impressive time of one hour, 49 minutes and 11 seconds.

Other names from Bourton taking on the 13-miler were Rebecca Townsend, who clocked one hour, 57 minutes and five seconds, Basia Legierska, who missed her by mere second with a one hour, 57 minutes and six second finish, and Barry O'Leary, who crossed the line at the two-hour mark.

As part of the race the Cheltenham 10K race was also underway, with Bourton’s Imogen Cox, Lynn Hudson, and Jenny Evanson all taking part.

Cox led with a finishing time of 67.47, while Hudson and Evanson were behind with 68.06 and 72.29 times, respectively.

On Saturday (August 31) club members had turned out in full strength to support the Alderton 5K, hosted in support of the town's pre-school.

Veteran Darren Long finished in 19.06, less than 24 hours ahead of the Half Marathon.

Maxine Emes was just a few minutes behind him with 22.32, while Tony Goodwill clocked in with 24.29.

They were in good company, accompanied by Edward Hare (17.45), who finished fourth overall, eight-place Liam Kay (18.18), Freddy Sansom (24.16), and Rosanna Bull (25.3) - all members of Bourton Juniors.

Furthermore, on Friday evening (August 30) a trio from Bourton made their mark at the Meteor Mile race, hosted at Gloucestershire Airport in Staverton.

Veterans Iain and Claire Cox ran times of 6.28.54 and 7.13.75 respectively, with Clementine Bright trailing closely behind Iain at 6.45.84.

Liam Kay (5.18.16), Will Harvey (5.42.17), Grace Kay (6.53.73), and Rosanna Bull (6.58.3) from Bourton Juniors also participated.
