BRUM, star of the eponymous children’s BBC TV series, is celebrating his 20th birthday at the Cotswold Motoring Museum in Bourton this year.

The superhero car, which first drove on to TV screens in 1991, started and ended his adventures at the museum, where he can still be found today.

To mark the anniversary, the museum is launching a new display with activities and competitions.

Over the Easter weekend an historical character will be handing out balloons in Bourton and children visiting museum can have their photo taken with the car, which is based on a Austin 7 "Chummy" convertible.

Museum curator Michael Tambini, said: "Children will love recognising the characters and following the activity sheets, we also have a Brum play area where children can ride on Brum, get creative with a Brum brass rubbing and play with lots of toys."

The BBC TV series, which was made by Stratford-based Ragdoll Productions and narrated by Toyah Wilcox, ran for five series until 2002.

Ragdoll founder Anne Wood chose the museum as Brum’s home.
