STREETS in a quaint Cotswold village are filling with Christmas cheer as residents plan to gather to admire everything they love about the season.

People from far and wide are expected to gather in Broadway next month for a special event to admire the village's beauty and light display.

The six-mile-long Broadway Christmas Light hike may see thousands of visitors walking through the village on Sunday, December 15 and making their way up to Broadway Tower.

The event, organised by Steven Massey Hiking Tours, is based around the December full moon.

A spokesperson for Steven Massey Hiking Tours said: "Join us for a full moon walk with a difference.

"We will be starting in Broadway, where we can get all festive and enjoy the wonderful Christmas lights display as we walk through the town.

"Then it will be a 6-mile circular walk from Broadway up to Broadway Tower and back to Broadway again.

"I took a group on this route at December's full moon two years ago and it was truly stunning but very cold!

"It was -6 up at Broadway Tower, so wrap up warm.

"But being that cold meant everything was covered in frost and glittering in the moonlight.

"Where good boots - there will be plenty of mud, and don't forget those head torches.

"Bring a festive snack, as we will have a break at the tower."

Tickets for this event are £2.50, which is a non-refundable payment.

It will only be refunded in case of a cancellation or a date movement due to Covid restrictions.

The hike will take place between 4pm and 7pm, and visitors are expected to gather at the Short Stay Car Park.

This is just one of many Christmas events taking place in the village to mark the festive season.

The village is also welcoming visitors to two Late Night Christmas Shopping evenings on November 29 and December 6.
