A COSTWOLD resident has been left 'extremely shaken' after arriving home to find a burglary in progress.

The incident happened at an address on King Georges Field late last week in which the resident found a group of men in face coverings in the property.

Upon arrival the group, consisting of between four or five men, ran out of the property and ran past the victim, shouting and hitting the vehicle.

Forensic investigators will be visiting the property following the incident on November 15.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "We're appealing for information after a group of men broke into a home in Stow-on-the-Wold last night, Friday 15 November.

"The resident drove home and when they parked on their driveway on King Georges Field, saw four or five men in face coverings run out from the rear of the property.

"As they ran past the victim's vehicle, some of them hit it with their fists, shouted at the victim and then fled on foot.

"It is not known if they then got into a vehicle.

"The incident happened at around 6pm and the group were described as wearing dark coloured clothing.

"The victim was not physically injured, but they are extremely shaken by the ordeal.

"Officers attended and it was found that the offenders had forced entry to a rear door and searched the bedrooms.

"House to house enquiries have taken place and forensic investigators are due to go to the property for further investigative work to take place.

"Anyone who lives in the area and witnessed the incident, saw anyone running away from the scene or who has CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to make contact with police."

At this stage in the investigation, police do not know whether anything was stolen from the property during the incident.
