A FAMILY-RUN café has been nominated for two awards - a year after winning its first.

Cotswold Barn, which is set off the A424 in Longborough, near Moreton-in-Marsh, has been nominated for 'Taste of the Cotswolds' in the Cotswolds Awards 2024 and for the 'Eat & Drink' gong in the North Cotswolds Awards.

The café, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary under owners Bernard and Joanne Williams, came out on top as 'Best Café in the Cotswolds' at the Cotswolds Awards 2023.

Mr Williams said: "We feel very proud and honoured to be considered for these awards - particularly with how difficult it is in the hospitality industry at the moment."

"Me and Joanne have been lucky - it's really all down to the hard work of our staff who have made these nominations possible."

Bernard and Joanne's daughter, Lucy Creed is part of the management team alongside her husband and general manager Joe Creed - while Joanne's 90-year-old mother, Joan, even helps out on weekends too.

Mr Creed said: "We found out around two weeks ago and it was brilliant to get the news - all the staff were quite surprised.

"But it means we must be doing something right.

"Lots of people have congratulated us already, and we've had customers in already who have said they have been voting for us."

Cotswold Barn and other nominees will discover the result in December and after judges had formed a shortlist of nominees, it is down to a public vote to decide the winner.

On the impact of winning an award last December, Mr Williams said: "We're usually quiet at the start of the year, but January and February this year was like the summer months!

"We had people visiting us from all over, from North London to the Welsh Borders, on the back of it."

With space for over 100 diners, Cotswold Barn serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

Mr Williams: "Food is a big part of what we do.

"We have three great chefs in our kitchen and I think around 98% of what we serve is fresh and homemade."

Cotswold Barn is open six days a week from Tuesday until Sunday.
