PLANS have been unveiled to restore and re-open a Cotswold pub.
The Farriers Arms in Todenham has been closed for a number of years, however, the new owner has submitted plans to revive the former "heart of the village".
The pub, which has been closed for a number of years, was bought by Wine Devil Limited in November 2023 which then in February 2024 successfully bought the adjoining building, Corner Cottage.
Plans to "bring the pub into the modern day" yet retain its history have been submitted to Cotswold District Council.
Working with Moreton architects, Tyacks; the plans include merging the pub and a cottage for more room and guest accommodation throughout the first floor.
Tony O’Sullivan director of Wine Devil Limited said: "We bought the Farriers Arms in November and Corner Cottage in February, and are pleased to say planning is now live on CDC.
"The pub has been closed for a number of years and it used to be the heart of the village.
"We want to retain the heritage and history whilst enhancing the pub's offering and robustness for the future.
"The pub has had many parts added on over the years and used to be part of the old blacksmith which adds to its quirkiness.
"We are looking at offering accommodation upstairs but we want to keep its history and heritage at its heart.
"We also want to bring the pub into the modern day and make it a community pub once again whilst also bringing all the neighbouring villages together."
Mr O'Sullivan said it had always been a passion and hobby to own his own pub and was hoping CDC reached a decision by the end of October.
According to the plans: "the objective is to renovate the existing public house, integrate Corner Cottage into its accommodation and extend the ground floor to create a kitchen and service area."
The south side of the building, which faces the main road is "in a very bad condition and is structurally unsound" and will need to be rebuilt.
The intention is to re-open the building as an dynamic pub, offering great food and drink with six luxury guest suites according to Mr O'Sullivan.
The plans were validated by Cotswold District Council on September 12 thus a decision is likely some time away.
