A hospice care at home charity is set to host a community apple day.

On Saturday, October 26, from 11am to 3pm, Wolds End Orchard and Campden Home Nursing will partner up to host a community apple day at the orchard and at Jecca’s House in Chipping Campden.

The event is free and will offer family-friendly activities celebrating the apple harvest and the community.

Attendees can explore the orchard and bring their apples to be identified by fruit specialist Steve Oram.

The day will also feature an apple crisping session and an interactive longest peel competition.

There will be a selection of giant garden games, such as Jenga, Splat the Rat, and Buzz Wire, alongside a tombola, children’s art activities and live entertainment.

The Men in Sheds group based at the care home will be on hand to share their activities.

Refreshments will include home-baked apple cakes and bakes, made with apples from the orchard and the care home, along with tea and coffee.

Freshly pressed apple juice from the orchard will be available for purchase, as will honey from hives at Wolds End Orchard.

In addition to the activities, visitors can learn more about both Wolds End Orchard and the services provided by Campden Home Nursing.

Helen Makaritis, Campden Home Nursing CEO, said: "Our doors will be open to the community, offering an opportunity to learn more about the support we give to people facing serious illness, end-of-life care, and bereavement.

"We also offer carer support and children's play therapy.

"Our mission is simple: to be there for you when you need us most."

Parking will be available at Chipping Campden High School, with spaces at the care home for blue badge holders and people with mobility challenges.

Please note dogs are not permitted in the orchard.

Owen O’Connell, chair of Wolds End Orchard, said: "Apple Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our harvest and the natural beauty of our community orchard.

"As an entirely volunteer-led organisation, we’re proud to collaborate with and support the many voluntary and charitable groups that make Campden special."
