FRAUDSTERS have stolen over £40,000 from vulnerable Gloucestershire residents in just one week.
Police have received ten reports of the scam in which victims are told their bank account has been compromised.
In the past week, two victims have had over £20,000 each stolen from their accounts.
A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Fraudsters are calling victims purporting to be police officers and bank officials.
"Victims are told that their bank card or account has been compromised; victims are then instructed to move all their funds into a “safe” bank account.
"This is in fact an account controlled by the fraudsters.
"Local residents have made 10 reports in the past week of this scam. Two of the victims each lost over £20,000.
"If you receive a call like this, hang up straight away."
