A PUB is set to reopen under new ownership next month.

The Horseshoe on Church Street, Shipston-on-Stour originally closed in 2022 but is set for a revival after it was purchased by owners Dave Lewis and Graham Smith in June.

The new owners have revealed they are aiming to open in mid-October.

Mr Lewis said: "This is a great town - a busy town.

"I've worked in Chipping Campden for a few years so I'm really familiar with the area and we're looking forward to opening."

Dave and Graham have approximately 70 years of experience in the pub trade between them.

Mr Smith said: "We like to do things that are unique, and every site is different. 

"We'll be serving food and those dishes will complement the pub itself."

Mr Lewis added: "A lot of pubs have been turned into restaurants in a way, and that's not what we want.

"We don't want to lose that pub element - The Horseshoe will be a pub first and foremost.

"We're bringing in beers from the states, including cans and revolving draught options.

"We will have local beers from North Cotswold Brewery and Wye Valley Brewery too."

The Horseshoe will feature a Modern British-style food menu while televisions have been installed in part of the pub.

Mr Lewis said: "The pub has to be for everyone. So it was important we had a strong menu and areas where people could watch sport.

"But The Horseshoe will also draw people that don't want either of those."

Shipston-on-Stour's mayor, John Dinnie, said: "In previous years the pub has always been very popular.

"It's a key building in the town's conservation zone too, but beyond that, it's an important addition to Shipston's social element."

The Horseshoe has undergone refurbishment including new flooring, lighting and a renovated beer garden, however the grade-II listed building will retain its black and white exterior.

Mr Lewis said: "Shipston is a great town, but I don't think it has had a new pub in a while.

"It's good to bring something new in - something fresh. It might spur on other investment in the town.
