I only recently discovered that wild animals were banned from travelling Circus just four years ago in 2020, writes Robert Heaven.
Until this point wild animals regularly visited Cirencester and when not performing, were exercised in public places such as the City Bank.
There is a rumour than one elephant is in fact buried in a field off the Gloucester Road.
The photos include the unfortunate animal that was provided with hot water (and maybe beer) at the Pubs in the area.
