"It's the best-attended show yet" say organisers of a Cotswold village show that has been running for over 70 years.

The Brailes Show, which has been running annually since at least 1953, saw thousands of people visit.

The family-friendly event draws residents from across the Cotswolds to partake in a "traditional village show".

Visitors could enjoy tombola, archery, face painting, a dog show and cookery demonstrations to name a few.

Aileen Sherer, flower and produce marque secretary at The Brailes Show, said: "We don't know the actual figure for how many people attended but it was in the thousands and it looked like it was our best-attended show yet.

"The show dates back to at least 1953 but it could be earlier and we had loads and loads of visitors.

"We had lots of children's activities, a dog show, a funfair, birds of prey and archery.

"The marque had all the usual exhibits such as the longest leeks and the best jam.

"I think we had over 580 exhibits and around 120 exhibitors."

This year's show also consisted of a horse show on August 12, the first time since 2018.

Mrs Sherer continued: "I think everyone on the committee would say that it went great.

"People that were there said it was brilliant and that they would be coming back again.

"It was great for us because it obviously takes a long time to organise, and we had a great turnout, but now we are exhausted.

"We did have a wee bit of drizzle in the morning but we were lucky with the weather and in the end, we had lots of sunshine.

"It was very well attended by grown ups and little ones.

"We also had a scarecrow trail throughout the village in the run-up to the show that was sport-themed and that was a big hit as well."

The winner of the scarecrow trail which was a "big hit" in the village was announced at the show which also included a number of vintage cars.
