A “predatory” female police officer who sexually abused a teenage girl has been spared jail.
Gloucestershire Constabulary constable Darcy Woods-Broady admitted seven crimes against the girl who was aged between 13 and 15.
The 21-year-old touched the girl sexually and caused or incited her to engage in both non-penetrative and penetrative activity on six occasions between October 2022 and March 2023.
Woods-Broady was today (August 9) sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years at Worcester Crown Court.
She was also made the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
PC Woods-Broady was arrested last March and suspended by the force just six months after joining.
The court heard her digital devices showed a significant quantity of messages between Woods-Broady and the victim, along with images and videos.
She told investigators that she had been in a sexual relationship with the victim and that she knew the girl to be aged 15.
The sexual abuse took place at a number of locations including PC Woods-Broady’s home and in her car, the court heard.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which investigated her crimes branded Woods-Broady a “predator”.
Director of operations Steve Noonan said: “While she did not meet the victim through her policing duties and the offences committed were outside of work, PC
Woods-Broady’s actions amounted to predatory behaviour on a child for her own sexual gratification.
"She has now faced the consequences of her conduct at criminal court.
“We directed the investigation by Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Professional Standards Department and I am grateful to their officers for their professionalism in helping to achieve this rightful outcome.”
