A HOLLYWOOD actress best known for playing a supervillain has become "a bit of a regular" at a Cotswold coffee shop.

The Blue Bean Coffee Shop in Shipston hosted comic royalty, Sarah Douglas on July 23, who has become a bit of a regular.

The family-run shop is owned by Sharon and Karl Peacock and has been running for nearly two decades.

Mr Peacock said: "When she is around she comes in quite often, but I think she spends a lot of time in the United States going to comic film conventions.

"She always says that she likes our coffee and we have got a lot of pop culture pictures on the walls, so I think she is taken back by that.

"She pops in when she can and is a lovely person, she was even in again this morning (July 30), she loves the place and is very approachable, she has even brought us a poster from the first Superman film she was in and it's signed, it's now proudly displayed."

Sarah Douglas was born in neighbouring Stratford upon Avon and is best known for playing Ursa in Superman and Superman II, but also starred as another supervillain alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan the Destroyer.

Mr Peacock continued: "She is a good customer to have and she always orders a flat white.

"She loves Shipston and where we are and she does comment on all the new things that she notices are happening in the town, and she hopes all the empty shops will be taken over soon.

"The signed poster is definitely a talking point for people in the shop.

"I think people of a certain age recognise her and it reminds them of all the extremely famous people she has worked with and it just gets people talking."

Mr and Mrs Peacock took over the Blue Bean Coffee Shop from Mrs Peacocks parents in 2005, although back then it was just known as The Bakery.

In a post on Facebook, The Blue Bean Coffee Shop said: "You don’t have to be a superhero to come to Shipston avoiding the roadworks, Sarah Douglas made it and enjoyed a coffee at her favourite coffee shop."
