PLANS are afoot to make improvements at Moreton train station.
The plans for a new "multi-use transport hub" will provide 56 new long-term parking spaces, bike stands, a taxi rank, a new drop-off area, a bus area, and a walkway into Moreton.
Moreton Town Council will be holding two events in August to engage with the community about the project.
This will be the first time the public will be able to see the new plans and residents are being encouraged to attend and provide feedback and suggestions.
The transport hub is a project between Great Western Railway (GWR) and the town council that would see improvements to Moreton Train Station with benefits to the wider town.
Malcolm Berry, chairman of Moreton Town Council, said: "We are holding two engagement events with the community before we put the proposed big picture plans to the district council.
"Members from the council and GWR will be at the events and they will be having conversations with commuters and residents who come down to take a look.
"It will be a little taster of what is to come."
The events will be held at The Redesdale Hall on August 2 from 6pm to 8.30pm and August 3 from 10am to 3pm.
The plans include the demolition of the former Royal British Legion building next to the train station which is jointly owned by GWR and the town council.
Mr Berry continued: "I suppose one of the biggest things is the safety aspect of the new plans.
"It's a bit of a wild west at the moment as far as vehicles are concerned, so hopefully the plans will make it much safer.
"We are also planning to put more out directional information for people visiting the town.
"There aren't any real disadvantages, it should improve flow in the town.
"The events are happening to make people aware of the plans to improve the whole area for the benefit of everyone and give residents the opportunity to say how they feel and provide their thoughts and ideas for us to take onboard."
