A Stow-based award-winning photographer will host an upcoming exhibition of her recent work.

Claire Carroll's showcase will feature an array of images of Japanese red crowned cranes, which were taken on a visit to snap the courting rituals of the birds.

Carroll's focus on the virtually monochrome birds against the snow-white background creates an almost abstract aesthetic.

Using increasing contrasts, she placed emphasis on the art of the images rather than the wildlife, and design rather than realism.

The exhibition will be on display at Atelier 8, Park Street in Stow from Monday 5 to Saturday, August 31.
