AN update has been released about the ongoing refurbishment project at Cirencester Leisure Centre.
The revamp scheme started work in May with the major project including a number of temporary closures to facilities.
The work includes various improvements - such as a new treatment room, a new staff area, renovated changing rooms, a new water feature, a new cycling and elevating studio, and a new studio floor.
Officials say all facilities should open fully in August after works are finished.
It is currently believed that work is due to finish on Monday, August 19.
However, the centre has now issued a statement revealing a change in the scheme’s work schedule due to a slight delay.
A spokesperson from Cirencester Leisure Centre said in a statement: “Our refurbishment project that is being delivered in partnership with Cotswold District Council is well underway and we are very excited to reopen our facilities fully in August after completion.
“The schedule has been revised again after a meeting with all contractors.
“We would like to keep all of our customers updated and have listed the new schedule below for you.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve your local community leisure centre facilities.”
How has the work schedule changed?
Phase one b and one c delay:
- The reopening of the wet side changing rooms was delayed by a week due to delivery issues and availability of the installation team.
- New reopening date for wet side changing rooms will now be Friday, July 26.
- From this date, customers will be able to shower and change in this area again.
- The health centre will be available from this date as well
- Until then, customers can continue using the dry side changing rooms.
Impact on phase two:
- Phase two, which involves the refurbishment of the downstairs dry side changing rooms, will be delayed for a further four days.
- The new work start date will now be Friday, July 26.
- An expected completion date is to be confirmed still but this phase is estimated to take approximately two weeks.
Overall project timeline
- Despite these delays, bosses say the overall refurbishment project “remains on schedule”.
- Work is due to finish on Monday, August 19.
