A SHOP which opened two months ago in a Cotswold town by two sisters has "received a lovely response" from the community.

The Wax Fairy of Stow, a shop that sells "anything witchy woo woo" including candles, waxes and soaps opened on May 1 and so far the shop has done really well according to the owners.

Sister duo, Rebecca Davies and Jessica Huckson are the team behind the latest shop in the market town.

Mrs Huckson said: "The shop just landed in our laps.

"It was a charity shop and I'm a full-time nurse.

"I was in one day and found out that it was leaving because they couldn't find enough volunteers and so I was given the landlord's number and we had two to three days to make our mind up.

"The business has been online for three or four years now but I've always wanted to have a physical shop for people to visit."

Mrs Huckson who has been a full-time nurse since 2022 makes some of the products sold in the shop by hand and said she was a local girl with a local shop which has had a lovely local response.

The shop currently rents out five shelves to local craftsmen to give them an opportunity to display their products.

Mrs Huckson continued: "I've lived in Stow for most of my life and my sister lives in Bourton.

"So far it has done really really well considering we only had two weeks to turn the shop into what we wanted.

"We've done well and we are ticking over which is what we expected and we are taking each month by month.

"We have had some amazing feedback which has made it much easier and we want the shop to be for everybody and for everyone to enjoy."

The name of the shop comes from Mrs Huckson's love a fairies ever since she was a little girl.

Mrs Huckson said: "I've always loved fairies, they have always been in my life and I love making candles and waxes, the shop is me written all over."
