HEAVY woolsacks were heaved through Tetbury when its world-famous bank holiday races returned after four years.
The event saw hundreds of brave individuals run up and down Gumstool Hill with a heavy woolsack on their back.
This year there was also a market selling crafts, produce and gifts from the region plus a food area and a heritage quarter under the Market House with information about the history of the event and about Tetbury's wool-trading past.
A test of strength where individuals and teams compete to run up and down the 1 in 4 gradient of Gumstool Hill bearing woolsacks, the event has been running since 1972.
Last year a new committee was formed to bring back the races after a break following the pandemic with a new sponsor - Tetbury's Flooring South West.
