A unique running event requiring people to dress up as chickens has raised a large amount of money for charity.
The event raised money for Campden Home Nursing and was hosted by 360Fit, a gym set within a farm in Blockley.
Eighty seven people dressed as chickens ran in the 5k run braving the boggy weather and raised over £4,000 for the charity.
Alex O’Donnell, fundraising manager at Campden Home Nursing, said: “It was brilliant to see everyone getting into the spirit of the race and we were delighted that people turned up, despite the rain.
"The success of the event wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of the participants and the support of volunteers, marshals, sponsors, and donors.
"A heartfelt thank you goes out to Marcus of 360Fit Blockley for his invaluable contribution in preparing the route and hosting the run.”
The event was well supported by many local companies such as Northcot Brock Limited, AW Lashford and Holmans Estate Agents among the many sponsors.
Maria Graham-Martin, communications manager for the charity, said: "We have only recently started fundraising, but we need to bridge the gap between income and expenditure.
"360Fit offered their premises and because it is on a farm I cam up with the idea for people to dress up as chickens and people thought that it was a great idea.
"To be honest, we were close to cancelling, it was a bit soggy and boggy but we were so pleased that so many people came out.
"Everyone was smiling and it was a great day out by all.
"No one was moaning, it was a perfect event and everyone got a medal.
Trophies were given out to to the fastest runners and the best dressed chicken.
She continued: "I chatted to a lot of people and so many of them were family members of patients that we had nursed in the past that were really keen to support.
"There were so many heart-warming stories.
After the success of the chicken run, the charity hopes to run another similar event next year with hopefully another unique theme.
Helen Makaritis, CEO of Campden Home Nursing, said: “It was heart-warming to know that many of the runners and walkers were families of patients we’ve helped over the years.
"We are so grateful for their support.”
