FLOOD alerts have been placed on rivers across the Cirencester and Malmesbury area.
The government has issued six warnings while the Met Office forecasts rain until 6pm today.
One alert is a red warning which has been issued for the Bristol Avon (upper) from downstream Malmesbury to Chippenham.
The warning says “flooding of property is possible” from Cow Bridge, Hullavington, Corston, Rodbourne, Kingsmead Mill, Great Somerford, Lower Seagry, Christian Malford, Sutton Benger, Kellaways, East Tytherton and Stanley.
The alert reads: “Properties with flood protection measures we advise these are installed now.
“Avoid driving through deep water as this poses a significant danger to life.
“We are closely monitoring the situation."
Meanwhile other amber warnings have been issued for the River Churn in the Cirencester area, the River Coln in the Fairford area, the River Thames in the Lechlade area as well as the Upper River Thames above Cricklade.
However, it is understood property flooding is not expected on the River Churn, the River Thames or the River Coln.
One alert reads: “River levels are high on the River Churn in the Cerney Wick area as a result of recent rainfall and high groundwater levels.
“Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected to continue over the coming days.
“Further heavy showers are forecast today which have the potential to be heavy at times. Overnight is forecast to be mainly dry.
“River levels are expected to remain high in the Cerney Wick area over the coming days and remain sensitive to further rainfall.”
