The furry inhabitants of Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home have thrown their support behind their fellow rescue dogs set to compete at Crufts.

In honour of their rescue dog comrades who will shortly appear in this year’s competition, the furry friends have staged their own mini Crufts celebration.

The event, organised in partnership with The Adoption Mission programme from Mars Petcare, sought to encourage more people to consider pet adoption and help the rescue dogs discover their forever families.

The Cotswold canines showed off their abilities, navigating agility courses, taking part in an award ceremony and enjoying some treats.

The event was inspired by rescue dogs Beau, Buddy, and Indie, who will compete at the upcoming event.

The home has said it hopes these success stories will refresh people’s views of rescue dogs and encourage more people to adopt them.

Fundraising manager at the home, Haley Medlock said: "It’s amazing to see rescue dogs showcasing their talents on the grand stage of Crufts.

"We want to encourage more people to adopt and discover firsthand the extraordinary abilities and joy these deserving canines bring to our lives.

“We’re so grateful to The Adoption Mission programme and for their continued support in helping us to nurture and look after the pets currently in our care.

"They cannot wait to find their forever homes and we look forward to hopefully matching them with their perfect families soon."

Laura Vallance, spokesperson for The Adoption Mission programme at Mars Petcare: “Our recent State of Pet Homelessness Report sadly shows there are still over a million cats and dogs in the UK that currently find themselves without a home.

"We know that only half of people contemplating getting a dog (58 per cent) would consider re-homing from a rescue centre meaning many animals still face a long wait to find their forever home.

“As part of The Adoption Mission programme, we’re committed to helping end pet homelessness.

"We hope these inspiring stories from Beau, Buddy, Indie, and Trevor show that rescue animals make amazing pets and are capable of wonderful things when they’re given the love, time, and patience to shine.”
