Jeremy Clarkson’s farm in the Cotswolds has raked in £250,000 worth of government and EU subsidies, according to reports by The Mirror.
Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, near Chipping Norton, has received a large sum from The Rural Payments Agency.
The Rural Payments Agency is part of Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the figures have been obtained using the Environmental Information regulations.
They show that the farm was awarded £133,733.01 under the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS), which was split across two payments in December 2021 and 2022.
The Basic Payment Scheme is a form of income support payment to farmers carrying out qualifying agricultural activities but since the UK has left the EU this scheme is being phased out.
The scheme has been fully funded by the UK government since 2021.
Diddly Squat Farm has also benefitted from the Environmental Stewardship scheme and reportedly received £116,352 in four payments between May 2020 and December 2022.
The Environmental Stewardship scheme was fully funded by the EU from 2020 to 2022.
Jeremy Clarkson is estimated to have a personal fortune of £50 million.
