A BANK set to close in a Cotswold town will be replaced by a new pop-up banking site.
Barclays has said it will be closing its Chipping Norton branch on 15 High Street on July 6 as part of planned closures which are affecting 14 other branches.
Despite the closure, Barclays has said that the bank will be able to retain a presence via a Barclays Local service.
The new service will provide customers who do not bank online or by mobile the opportunity to see a Barclays colleague face to face.
A Barclays spokesperson said: “In Chipping Norton we plan to open a Barclays Local – a pop-up cashless banking site where customers can meet a colleague face-to-face for banking support, as they would in a branch and without the need to travel.
"We are currently working with the local community to identify a suitable location and will announce details once confirmed.”
Everyday transactions can still be completed at any Post Office, with the closest located at Co-op, 4-5 High Street.

Susan Marston, 73, a resident of Little Rissington, uses the Chipping Norton bank as her local branch and previously slammed the decision to close.
She said: "It is absolutely ridiculous; this bank is an important location for many in the surrounding area.
"There are a lot of people who do not use online or mobile banking and rely on these locations to organise their finances.
"It is not a big location so I cannot believe it costs them a lot to run. I already have to travel around 20 minutes to get to the bank and once this branch closes, I do not know what I am going to do."
The spokesperson said: “Our customers’ behaviour has changed significantly in recent years, with the majority now choosing online banking.
"This is reflected at the Chipping Norton branch and as we adapt, we are finding new ways to support our customers by maintaining our community presence with options for customers who still require in-person support."

All of the regular customers at the Chipping Norton Branch will receive a letter regarding the decision to close and posters will be displayed in the branch.
Barclays has also said that they do not intend to make anyone redundant as a direct result of the Chipping Norton branch closure.
The closest Barclays branches after the closure will be 32 Bridge Street, Banbury and 30 Market Square, Witney.
