A Cotswold supermarket has donated more than 1,000 meals to a local community outreach group.
Chipping Norton Theatre has received almost 1,300 meals from the town’s Aldi branch.
The meals will be distributed to children in the area who are eligible for free school meals during term time.
Chipping Norton Theatre has reported increased demand for its services this December.
This donation will help feed at least 160 children over the Christmas period.
Clare O’Hara, head of outreach at Chipping Norton Theatre, said: “We are very grateful for Aldi’s support during this busy period.
“Due to the high demand this year, it is becoming increasingly difficult for charities like ours to help those in need, but donations like this help to make all the difference.”
All of Aldi’s 980 UK stores donate surplus food to good causes throughout the year.
Since launching its partnership with Neighbourly back in 2019, Aldi has donated over 27 million meals across the country.
The supermarket chain also recently announced its £250,000 Emergency Winter Foodbank Fund, which will go towards supporting charities, foodbanks, and community groups across the UK this winter.
John Richardson, Regional Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “Chipping Norton Theatre is an excellent example of one of the many community groups we are incredibly proud to support.
“We know a lot of families will be struggling this winter and that is why we are making this additional donation to help the local community in Chipping Norton this December.”
