A Cotswold café has found a new family.
Popular Moreton high street business Charlotte’s Pantry has reopened today under new ownership.
For the past eight years, Charlotte’s has been run by the Peel Family, who have now decided to sell up and retire.
Taking over the reins is the Taee family, who live in Broadway and Chipping Norton and own Huffkins Bakery & Café Tea Rooms.
Joshua Taee, managing director of the company, said: “Huffkins was founded over 130 years ago in the nearby market town of Burford, so we understand the importance of looking after our local residents as well as our visitors.
“Moreton is a beautiful place with a strong community - I lived in the town myself for several years.
“We are very proud to be investing in Moreton and we are really excited to serve our local community.”
Chris Peel, of Charlotte’s Pantry, added: “We’re delighted to be passing the torch to another local family and much-loved Cotswold brand.
“It’s reassuring to know that our loyal staff will remain and be a friendly face for our regular customers, who we’re sure will welcome Huffkins with open arms.”
Huffkins has its own craft bakery in Oxfordshire where all of the products are made by hand, from scratch, using ingredients from local suppliers.
The company also has nine tea rooms, spread across the Cotswolds and London.
The newest addition to the line-up, at 18-19 Moreton High Street, will serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and everything in between, with sit-in and takeaway options available.
On offer are a range of handmade cakes, freshly baked pastries, and house-roasted coffee.
Local residents will also be able to pick up a loyalty stamp card, while a catering service is available for all types and sizes of occasion.
Mr Taee has also confirmed plans to refurbish the café.
He said: “We are greatly looking forward to working with the wonderful team from Charlotte’s Pantry and bringing them into the Huffkins family.
“Additionally, we are investing in a refurbishment program to really show off the best that this stunning Cotswold stone building, complete with courtyard garden, has to offer.
“We want to make a meaningful contribution to the town.”
“We’re here to create delicious experiences that you won’t find anywhere else. “
The Moreton branch opens today, Wednesday November 9, and is dog-friendly, with more information available at www.huffkins.com/pages/moreton-in-marsh-cafe-tea-room.
