A dog-only swimming day returned to a Cotswold pool.
Chipping Norton Lido hosted its dog swim event for the first time in three years, with nearly 100 pooches enjoying a splash on Sunday, September 11.
The tradition marks the end of the summer season and gives man’s best friend a chance to get their paws wet.
Trustee Claire Jarvis claims the Lido was partly responsible for introducing the trend, which began in the Netherlands, to the UK.
She said: “It’s always a really fun event and something that The Lido takes some credit for introducing to the UK.
“Having an end-of-season dog swim is a tradition in Holland where there are many more open-air pools and it was a Dutch customer of ours who first suggested it to us several years ago.
“Since then, it has built in popularity and is now always a sell-out event and a great way to sign off at the end of the summer, before we ‘put the pool to bed’ for the winter.”
