CLAIMS that new parking restrictions in Bourton has removed six unrestricted parking spaces for local residents have been rejected by parish councillors.
Former councillor Alan Roberts had written to the parish council arguing that the new restrictions had removed the six unrestricted places that had been allocated between Glebe House and the area around the church in 1990.
However, Cllr Sheila Jeffery who was a council member in 1990, said: "It was looked at because residents wished to have parking by the church. As I recall it wasn't agreed."
Cllr John Teece said that prior to the new Traffic Regulation Order being put in place it went out for consultation and no-one came forward at that stage.
Cllr Jeffrey added: "If we consulted that's the way it is. We can't keep chopping and changing."
Councillors agreed to write to the residents who raised concerns to say that they were not in a position to do anything but to suggest they could take it up directly with Gloucestershire Highways.
