A NORTH Cotswold teenager has been dubbed a "star student" by the head of her school sixth form.
Sarah Brown, 16, from Great Rissington has been nominated by Will Morgan, sixth form head of the Cotswold School in Bourton, for a Young Community Hero award sponsored by Gloucestershire County Council.
Mr Morgan said Sarah, who lives in Great Rissington and is actively involved in the guiding movement, deserves the accolade.
"She's an absolute star of a student. She one of the very top and brings out the best in all those around her," said Mr Morgan, who added that Sarah inherits her community spirit from parents, Sue and David, who organised the school association's recent quiz night.
"It's in the blood," he said.
Sarah, who hopes to become a teacher, is a member of Guiting Power Rangers and is a helper with the Bourton Brownies, said: "I like to take up a challenge and try new things. It's always interesting to meet different people and find out different things."
Of the nomination, she said: "It's been overwhelming. It's nice to know that people think so highly of me. My parents are really, really proud and they are glad I'm getting recognition."
Other Cotswolds School pupils nominated for the Pride of Gloucestershire award are Dominic Elsdale, Jess Broadbent and Laura Iredale.
