SIX people have been killed and three seriously injured following a head-on collision between two cars on the A429 Fosseway between Stow and Moreton last night.
The accident near the Broadwell turning happened at approximately 9.20pm.
Four of the deceased declared dead at the scene were in a grey Peugeot 306 and one was in a green VW Passat. The sixth person died later in hospital.
Of the three seriously, two were children, who were taken Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, and one is being treated Gloucester Royal Infirmary.
The vehicles, which are both registered to Gloucestershire residents, were involved in a head-on collision.
A red Kia, also registered to a Gloucestershire driver, was also involved in the collision but no one in it was injured.
Road closures were put in place at the following locations while all three emergency services work at the scene: the junction of the A429 and A44 at Moreton-in-Marsh; the A429 Longborough turning; the A429 at Stow; and at the Donnington crossroads.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or noticed these vehicles prior to it.
