Bourton Rovers 1, Longlevens 2
FIVE minutes of defensive frailty cost Bourton dearly as they narrowly lost to their third in the table visitors on Saturday.
An error by Gary Clark gifted the away side the opening goal and, moments later, the lead was doubled as the home defence were caught out again.
Bourton fought back strongly and created some chances later in the first half with Mark Payne going close with an audacious 40-yard lob and then having another effort cleared off the line after an excellent through ball from David Gainford.
The home side secured a lifeline just before the break when Graham New-hook scored directly from a well-taken free-kick after Keelan Gilbert was fouled just outside the penalty area.
The second half proved to be one of frustration with few chances for either team and, despite Longlevens having a man sent off, Bourton couldn't make the advantage pay.
Payne thought he had done enough to earn a draw late on but his lob went over the advancing keeper and the crossbar.
Bourton are currently just above the relegation zone in Division One of the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League and have a crucial game next week against second from bottom Brockworth on Saturday.
Other result - Cheltenham League Division Two: Whaddon Utd 1, Bourton Rovers Res 1.
