FANTASTIC team success came to Bourton Roadrunners last weekend at the Country Road Relay Championships at Sandhurst on Saturday and the second of the County Championship Series - the Gloucester 20 Mile Race the next day.

Dennis Walmsley was brave enough to take on both and clocked a superb 5.25k leg for his team on Saturday with a time of 16.54 that assisted his team to the overall second County Vet Team award and helped by Rob Edwards (19.20), Mike Pudifoot (21.02) and Ed Rozier (24.05).

The Supervets' team of Chris Bence (23.55), Norm Lane (23.05) and Dave Spackman (24.10) were rewarded with gold.

The Junior Ladies team excelled and only narrowly missed out an all-out success with Steph Lane (19.27) the fastest junior lady and Beth Pudifoot (20.34) and Beth Wynn (24.02) topping the Under-20 team listings.

The lady vets finished third team overall and first veteran team thanks to the efforts of Lucy Walmsley (21.23), Sarah Clemo (22.55) and Ali Lane (21.23).

Tom Jess helped out Severn on their way to third Senior Men's team while also achieving the time for fastest junior man of in 18.47.

Jo Pritchard joined with Severn and Stroud to take second County Ladies team.

Mike Smith sailed away from the gun on the Sunday leaving a chasing pack of four, including Walmsley and Alistair Lockey, three minutes behind by halfway.

He continued with his conclusive lead to the finish clocking a time of 1.52.52.
