GOVERNMENT inspectors have judged services for children and young people in Gloucestershire as "being on the right track".
A recent Ofsted inspection of agencies in the county dealing with children and young people, including the county council, district council, primary care and NHS trusts, the police and voluntary and community organisations, concluded that they are working together effectively.
It is the first time a joint area review has been carried out in the county, and inspectors singled out for praise work to prevent crime and to reduce teenage pregnancy rates.
Areas for improvement included the need to better target resources to provide services for children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust chief executive Jan Stubbings said: "It is particularly pleasing to see that the excellent team work that exists across agencies has been recognised and that the joint commitment to plan together for children and young people has also been highlighted."
