STOW town councillors have agreed to buy four new dog bins to tackle the problem of dog fouling near the town's primary school.
Parks committee chairman Patricia Herbert said two of the bins, which cost £149 each, would be placed near the school and two elsewhere in the town.
Cllr John Kennell said there was a problem of persistent dog fouling near the fountain at the entrance to the town.
Mayor Tom Morris said that he had found someone who would be willing to volunteer as a dog warden up to eight hours a week.
"It would be the first for the market towns," he said.
Cllr Keith Cox said a lot of dog owners take their pets down to King George's Field.
"As we want to develop that area we should consider banning dog walking round there," he said.
