Cheltenham Civil Service 0, Bourton Rovers 1
A SUPERB first half goal from Dougie Wallace was enough to secure a vital three Gloucestershire Northern Senior League points for the away team.
A new-look Bourton side produced a disciplined performance throughout the first half with veteran Steven Stroud marshalling the midfield once more.
The home side, though, always looks dangerous from corners and, had the ball not struck a post midway through the half, it would have been all-square at half-time.
The second half saw Civil Service push hard to draw level but a well marshalled defence including Gary Clark, Carl Stevens and James Mills led to a volley of long-range efforts on the Bourton goal.
Graham Newhook looked to got the important second goal for Bourton only for his shot to bounce off an upright and Jamie Hurrell's follow-up was well saved by the home keeper.
Civil Service continued to press but were foiled by a fine save from Andrew Herbert and the defence dealt capably with a series of well-struck crosses that ensured Rovers claimed a hard-fought success.
Other result: Bourton Rvrs Res 3, Gala Wilton Reserves 3.
