VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help clean up Chipping Norton and cast a "housewifely eye" over the town.

The town council has agreed a town clean up on the weekend of April 4, 5 and 6.

"We are looking for volunteers and various organisations to do particular areas of the town," said Chipping Norton mayor Gina Burrows.

Cllr Burrows said the clean up was not just about picking up litter but also looking out for such things as road signs that need cleaning or out-of-date signs that need removing and loose kerbs.

"Itfs just casting a housefwifely eye on the town. You learn to live with things," said Cllr Burrows.

Anyone willing to volunteer should contact the town council on 01608 642341.

Chipping Norton town councillors have accepted an offer from local landscape garden firm Topiarus to plant and maintain the townfs flower beds in return for being able to place advertising signs in the beds.
