IT will be a red letter day for a north Cotswolds couple as they celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary today.
Former postman Douglas Howe and his wife Edith, both aged 75, of Dulverton Place, Moreton were married on February 22, 1958 and have since spent a half century of happy years together.
Douglas, who was a postman in Moreton district for 43 years until his retirement 15 years ago, said the secret of their marriage was a happy life with twin daughters, Linda and Carol, and their five grandchildren, aged from 21 to 15.
Douglas said he still feels the same about Blockley girl Edith as he did when they first started courting as teenagers at Moreton Picture House almost 60 years ago.
"I think we are very lucky. We are a normal, working class couple," said Douglas, who will be celebrating with Edith and the rest of his family at the Swan Inn, Moreton, tomorrow.
"We still feel the same about each other and still love each other as much as we did," he added
