David Beckham has reportedly put up a gigantic safari-style tent in his garden which is causing more friction between the celebrity family and their Great Tew neighbours.
According to Mail Online, a £50,000 glamping tent has sprung up on the shores of a lake the couple created – which itself met with a wave of objections from neighbours – at their £6.15million country estate.
The lodge is 45ft long and 35ft wide and has sparked a debate over whether the structure is permanent, and so needs planning permission.
Sources for the Beckhams told Mail Online: "There is no consent issue. The Beckhams’ consultants did check directly with the council."
A local resident spotted the structure on Google Earth and reported it to West Oxfordshire District Council which has started an investigation, according to the website.
A West Oxfordshire District Council spokesperson could not confirm this and said: “We can not comment on any investigations into alleged planning breaches.”
Mail Online suggested the tent appears to be from the Cashmere Caveman Company, owned by Mr Beckham’s close friend, the film director Guy Ritchie.
In June Mr Beckham and his fashion designer wife Victoria were granted planning permission to build a log store despite being accused of "flying in the face" of the Government's Clean Air Strategy.
The objector said they should be relying on more eco-friendly methods of heating such as an electric heat pump.
The objection from a member of the public read: "I object to this application as it is a log store to keep wood to be burned dry.
"This flies in the face of the Government's Clean Air Strategy."
The individual finishes the objection by stating "Save the Planet."
In December 2020 neighbours said their proposals for the 'monstrous' kidney-shaped lake could flood homes.
The Beckhams defended the plans, saying they would recreate a classic English meadow scene.
And in June 2020 David Beckham reportedly won his dispute with neighbours over plans to build a security gatehouse manned by 24-hour guards and an underground getaway tunnel.
Sources told The Sun that neighbours who complained the build will 'ruin the ambience' withdrew their official complaint.
Features of the estate, which has been renovated a number of times over the past few years, include a huge football pitched, a spectator stand, an outdoor pool, and a sauna.
The home near Soho Farmhouse is also said to contain a plunge pool, and an enormous garage, fitted with flashy cars and a motorbike.
