Bristol City have confirmed the signing of free agent and EFL League Two Player of the Season Kane Wilson following the conclusion of his contract with Forest Green Rovers.
The 22-year-old wing-back scored three goals and produced 13 assists in the green and black through the 2021/22 campaign, which lead to him also being included in the Team of the Season.
But having helped Rovers to promotion into League One, he has moved onto the Championship with Bristol.
"It feels amazing to sign. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now and I’m over the moon to finally get it done," said Wilson.
"City are a forward-thinking club. Sometimes it’s easy to say you are forward-thinking and want to get into the Premier League but with the steps that City are making – the training ground, what the Gaffer has said to me, the feel of the club – it’s something I believe they really want to do."
Both clubs are now discussing compensation arrangements in line with EFL Regulations for the development of Wilson during his two-year spell at the New Lawn.
He follows fellow free agents Mark Sykes and Kal Naismith in becoming the Robins’ third new recruit this summer.
Due to the World Cup later in the year, the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two set to start on the weekend of Saturday 30 July 2022.
