A secondary school in Bourton has received a record number of Oxbridge offers.
Six students at The Cotswold School, The Avenue, have received offers to study their chosen subjects at Oxford or Cambridge following rigorous interviews.
Phil White, head of Sixth Form and deputy head at The Cotswold School, has praised the school’s ability to prepare students for the interview and application process.
He said: “Our Aspire programme helps students, who have an aptitude and desire to study at greater depth and pursue extra challenges, to develop their vision for study at top universities, if that is what they hope to achieve.
“At times, pupils work with peer mentors further up the school, who bring their perspective to inspire younger learners.”
To assist students, the comprehensive school has hosted talks from people working in law, TV production, midwifery, publishing and psychology.
This included former alumni, some of whom supported the students with their applications.
Mr White added: “Our alumni, many of whom have studied at Oxford or Cambridge, provide brilliant higher education surgeries.
“Their insights and encouragement – as well as the dedication and experience of our staff here at The Cotswold School – can help all our students understand the expectations they must meet in their applications.”
