Love is in the air at the Cotswold Wildlife Park, with creatures great and small getting in the Valentine’s Day spirit.
To celebrate February 14, staff at the park took to social media to set up dating profiles for some of their eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.
From Melvin the giraffe to Edward the iguana, all sorts of animals got involved.
The idea was the brainchild of senior mammal keeper, Jenni Maxwell.
She said: "To mark Valentine's Day this year, we created some animal dating profiles as we thought it would be a good way to show people that the Park is involved in various breeding programmes for a range of species.
“Online dating being very popular at the minute we thought it would be a good way to show off some of the unique personalities we have here at the Park!"
All the critters involved are part of the park’s European Breeding Programme.
The park was the first in the UK to breed wolverines, Morelet’ crocodiles, Chinese crocodile lizards, and the first in Great Britain to successfuly breed Crowned Sifaka.
Melvin is part of the park’s bachelor herd of giraffes, part of a European ex-situ breeding programme.
Edward meanwhile is a managed species and awaiting a match.
Meanwhile Fred the cassowary could be set to find love soon, with the park planning to introduce a female in the near future.
Rambutan the Binturong will be moving on to another zoological collection soon as he continues his quest for love.
Last but not least, the park is expecting successful breeding soon from Mahokile the greater bamboo lemur, with plans to bring in a young female.
