THOSE attending the North Cotswolds Rotary Christmas Band Concert in Bourton-on-the-Water were thoroughly entertained as the Waterloo Band and Bugles of the Rifles played a selection of Christmas music and carols to get everyone in the festive spirit.
We were treated to the beautiful voice of Megan Ashley who sang a number of Christmas favourites. Conductor, Major Lawrence Sale, kept everyone in good spirits throughout the evening with his commentary and jokes.
Six buglers raised the roof playing some of their most popular marches, matching The Rifles faster than normal pace of 140 paces per minute, maintaining the tradition of The Rifles motto ‘Swift and Bold’.
The evening raised £2,000 which will be donated to The Royal British Legion, Headspace (a local charity supporting young people experiencing mental health problems) and other charities supported by North Cotswolds Rotary.
We would like to thank Brio Retirement Living for their sponsorship of the event.
The Waterloo Band and Bugles of the Rifles were keen to come back and so we have already booked them for next Christmas!
