THE authentic taste of Japan is being launched in the Cotswolds with monthly pop-up dining experiences.
Miyuki’s Kitchen launches in the Cotswolds Japanese Canteen with authentic home-cooked Japanese food with the first official launch taking place in Upper Oddington on May 4.
The business, run by Miyuki Sedohara, has been supplying high quality sushi and other authentic Japanese food for home and events/functions for the past three years. She has also been teaching Japanese cooking to enthusiastic pupils.
She has now joined forces with fellow Japanese food enthusiasts: Michi Naomoto, Kazue Kawasaki and Hisae Ushioku to launch the Cotswolds Japanese Canteen.
The first event will take place at Mrs Sodehara's home, at Fox Furlong, where a recent taster event proved popular.
“We base our cooking on the traditions handed down to us by our mothers and grandmothers. We use the freshest ingredients,
organic whenever possible, and we make our own miso, pickles, and other traditional seasonings. When appropriate, we also
make our own tofu from organic soybeans and natural nigari.
Not only is authentic Japanese food delicious, it also has significant health benefits.”
The fixed menu for the pop-up dining typically consists of sashimi of the day, a meat or fish dish, a tofu dish and a vegetable dish with rice, miso soup and pickles followed by green or hojicha tea with delicate Japanese sweets.
